2014 was a big year for Squamish. We played host to more than 35,000 music lovers at the Squamish Valley Music Festival. We paid tribute to wind and water at the inaugural Squamish Wind Festival. We elected a new Council and bid farewell to another. We saw the grand opening of the Sea to Sky Gondola and launched a new brand for Squamish. We celebrated major milestones in the history of our town: 110 years since the Britannia Mine was initiated, 102 years of the Squamish (Newport) Fire Department, 57 years of Squamish Days Loggers Sports, 100 years since Newport became Squamish, 80 years of the Chamber of Commerce, and 50 years since the District of Squamish was incorporated. This has been an incredible year for our community, and one that we want to remember for years to come.
We are currently seeking submissions for the District of Squamish 50th Anniversary Time Capsule to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the District’s Incorporation, celebrate 100 Years of Squamish history and preserve some of the important artifacts, information and photographs that made 2014 the year that it was.
Submissions will be accepted based on size and space availability in the capsule. Please include a brief description and photo if available by December 8to email@example.com.
